ENACT STRATEGY: Promote High Standards
Promote high standards of nutrition and physical activity practice to healthcare and provider associations

Healthcare and provider associations play an invaluable role in promoting high standards of nutrition and physical activity in communities. By encouraging healthy eating and active lifestyles, healthcare organizations focus on the prevention of chronic disease rather than treatment. This shift in perspective is necessary to raise the standards for healthy, active living.

Characteristics

  • The term “state-of-the-art“ should not only be limited to medical technology, but also be applied to prevention strategies.
  • Standard medical procedures should include preventive approaches including screening and counseling.
